The marathon starts up at Hardware Ranch, which is located in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, part of the Wasatch Mountain Range. Located North of Salt Lake City about 80 miles and about 8 miles from Logan, Utah.
This time of year has perfect running weather in Utah. The temperatures at start will be on an average 40 degrees, quickly warming up to between 50 and 70 degrees by the finish line. However, Utah September storms can bring snow at high elevations (like the 2000 marathon) so be prepared for whatever the weather brings.
Aid stations will be at the start, finish, at miles 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. Port-a-potties will be available at the start, finish, and at each aid station, with two port-a-potties at each aid station in the canyon. All aid stations will also have gatorade (on the first tables), water (on the last tables), vaseline, band-aides, feminine hygiene products (for Dan) and toilet paper (for Davy). In the second half of the course, all aid stations will have fruit and some will have GU energy gel. We provide medical First Responders a few yards before every aid station and the Logan Fire Department Bike Medics will ride the course on bicycles, helping runners in need.
All runners must take bus transportation (yellow school buses) to starting line. No vehicles will be allowed up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Buses start leaving at 5:15 am and the last bus leaves at 5:50 am sharp. Buses load at Merlin Olsen Park, 300 East Center Street, Logan.
