Motivation is Unique

This blog is dedicated to a specific group of friends dedicated to running the Top of Utah Marathon on Saturday, September 20th 2008. Specific bios of the individual runners will be coming as will other cool and most likely lame threads of discussion. But who cares when this is free and when it may become a driving force for motivation and insults at the same time.

We are 30 and Running.

Love the idea! I’ve always wanted to do one but my knees are horrible and I've had them slip out of joint several times. If someone is willing to scrape me off the pavement and push me in a wheel chair when my knees blow out... count me in!

Lately I’ve been focusing on sports with lower impact such as cycling. An alternative could be to train for a the Spudman triathlon. Rachel and I have wanted to do it for quite sometime and this would give us the excuse to actually do it. Any one in? If not, I’ll try for the marathon.

Wait. Let me get this straight. You are proposing to run "for fun"???

Did I see on that picture that the course takes us through a mountain pass???

The words "aid stations", "vaseline", "band-aides", "feminine hygiene products", "medical First Responders", "Logan Fire Department Bike Medics", and "Davy" tell me that this is dangerous. Isn't there a stat out there about how more people have died from marathons than flying in airplanes or fighting in the Iraq war?

And to top it all off, just when I thought that I might be able to do this, the yellow school bus is mentioned. There goes my mental edge.

John,

I have to say you're a funny fella. This will be a life changing experience for us all. Are you in? Has Kristen given you permission...wuss?

It's sounds like fun! Also really painful. My brother in law's brother runs a lot of these types of races and I have heard horror stories about bloody feet. Good luck!

Okay. I'm in. And there is NO WAY that I'm coming in last place. And by the way, I looked at a running magazine for a few seconds and even went and lifted weights at the gym yesterday so look out.
